Canada, India row highlights Khalistan issue
By Abdus Sattar Ghazali: The Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau told the House of Commons on Monday (9/18) that, in recent weeks, national security authorities had been probing allegations that New Delhi was behind a state-sponsored assassination. “Any involvement of a foreign government in the killing of a Canadian citizen on Canadian soil is an unacceptable violation of our sovereignty. On June 18 Hardeep Singh Nijjar was shot dead outside a Sikh temple in Surrey, British Columbia. Nijjar had campaigned for an independent Sikh nation – known as Khalistan – to be carved out of India’s Punjab state. He was wanted by Indian authorities and had been designated as a “terrorist” in July 2020. Read More

How Arab Leaders Betrayed Islam and Defied the Logic of Political Change, Peace and Security?
Dr. Mahboob A. Khawaja: The imperial networks export militarization and wars to destabilize the Arab Middle East. The Arab world has one focal issue - Palestine and the Two States solution. The contemporary Arab world has no honest leaders to protect the Masjid Al-Aqsa and its sanctity from Israeli’s Ultra Nationalist provocations and to reason with Palestine and Israel and what future options could be imagined for peace and security. Some Remarks on Russia in Global Politics Today
by Dr Vladislav B Sotirovic: Russia surely belongs today to the club of key global powers having powerful nuclear weapons, a growing economy, and perspective economic capacities but what is most important and different to others, Russia possesses almost endless natural resources (many of them are probably still even not discovered). From a geopolitical viewpoint, Russia is occupying the crucial segment of the Heartland – the focal geopolitical part of the world and, therefore, the rest of the (Western) Great Powers historically wanted either to occupy Russia (for instance, Napoléon I or A. Hitler) or to control her authorities (for instance, of Boris Yeltsin). Read More
Pakistan Supreme Court restores corruption cases against public office holders
By Abdus Sattar Ghazali: Pakistan’s Supreme Court on Friday struck down amendments to the country’s accountability law, and ordered restoration of all corruption cases against public office holders that had been dropped after the changes. The judgment came on a plea filed by former prime minister Imran Khan last year, challenging the amendments brought in by the previous Shehbaz Sharif government. The ruling could have far-reaching implications as it would restore graft cases against the country’s political bigwigs, including former Prime Minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) chief Nawaz Sharif, ex-president Asif Ali Zardari and former prime ministers Yusuf Raza Gilani, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and Raja Pervez Ashraf. 9/11 ANALYSIS: From Reagan’s Al Qaeda Sponsored War on Afghanistan to George W. Bush’s 9/11
By Prof Michel Chossudovsky: The “Global War on Terrorism” is a complex and intricate intelligence construct. The covert support provided to “Islamic extremist groups” is part of an imperial agenda. It purports to weaken and eventually destroy secular and civilian governmental institutions, while also contributing to vilifying Islam. It is an instrument of colonization which seeks to undermine sovereign nation-states and transform countries into territories. For the intelligence operation to be successful, however, the various Islamic organizations created and trained by the CIA must remain unaware of the role they are performing on the geopolitical chessboard, on behalf of Washington. The fabrication of “terrorism” –including covert support to terrorists– is required to provide legitimacy to the “war on terrorism”. The various fundamentalist and paramilitary groups involved in US sponsored “terrorist” activities are “intelligence assets”. In the wake of 9/11, their designated function as “intelligence assets” is to perform their role as credible “enemies of America”. Rear More
22 years on, Muslims still face hate, discrimination over Sept. 11
Anadolu Agency: The U.S. Muslim community still lives under the shadow of hate and discrimination that found its way into the country over two decades ago in the aftermath of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. "After 22 years, unfortunately, Islamophobia has taken root and become part of the structure of racism that exists in parts of our country," said Hussam Ayloush, chief executive officer of the California chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-CA). Ayloush told Anadolu that nearly 1 million of the estimated 5 million Muslims living in the U.S. reside in the state of California and pointed out that harassment and prejudice against the Muslim community remain prevalent decades after 9/11. "More than 50% of Muslim students in California face some form of verbal and physical bullying at public schools just for being Muslim," said Ayloush. "In addition, there are still government watchlists for nearly 1.6 million people, almost all of whom are Muslims, who have their names on the travel watchlist or have Muslim-sounding names. G20 Summit concludes without condemning Russia for Ukrain war
By Abdus Sattar Ghazali: The G20 Summit held in India on Saturday eventually adopted a joint declaration with a neutral stance on the Ukraine war, which caused rising divergences among the members. The joint declaration this year shows no direct condemnation of Russia over the Ukraine crisis, which is different from the one in 2022. Interestingly, Chinese President Xi Jinping, and Russian President Vladimir Putin did not attend the New Delhi summit. Read More
Russia strengthens ties with African military juntas calling to expel French troops
By Athiyan Silva, Alex Lantier: A week ago, a Russian delegation led by Deputy Defense Minister Yunus-Bek Yevkurov visited Burkina Faso and met with the head of the military junta, Ibrahim Traoré. Russia has not had a formal diplomatic presence in Burkina Faso since 1992, when the Soviet embassy closed as the Stalinist bureaucracy dissolved the Soviet Union. After meeting with Traoré, Yevkurov told reporters they had discussed military aid, nuclear energy and economic ties. He said, “We will do our best to help you develop in all these spheres. I have already reminded your president of this. In the field of military cooperation, we will discuss the training format of your cadets and officers of different levels, including pilots, in our country.” Read More

Daily Sabah: According to Hüsamettin Inaç, a professor at the International Relations Department of Dumlupınar Üniversitesi in Türkiye, the summit is coming at a time when the U.S.-led unipolar world order set after the World War II is no longer dominant. "Nowadays, there are several countries standing against the neoliberal world order, such as Brazil, India, Mexico and others," he told Anadolu Agency (AA). He said the U.S. is losing leverage and influence on all fronts, which in turn changes the nature of the G-20. Read More
After Ukraine, new 'theater of conflict' has emerged in Africa
BY MELIH ALTINOK: Over the past three years, Africa has witnessed a series of political upheavals, with countries like Burkina Faso, Mali, Sudan, Niger, the Central African Republic, Guinea, and most recently Gabon, experiencing military takeovers. It appears that more such events may be on the horizon. Describing these incidents as mere "military coups" may not be entirely accurate, as the ousted governments in these countries were often propped up by the military might of foreign powers, raising questions about their civilian legitimacy. For instance, in the case of Gabon, where France called for "respect for democracy" following the recent coup, the country has been under the control of a family with deep ties to France for the past 60 years. The entities seizing power are also armies backed militarily and financially by various foreign states. Read More

The speakers, one after another, emphasized that currently there is no rule of law in the country as the constitution has been suspended practically. Modi’s lesson from Israel: Demolish Muslim homes, erase their history
By Somdeep Sen: In early August, the world watched in horror as authorities in the northern Indian state of Haryana demolished more than 300 Muslim-owned homes and businesses in Nuh – the only Muslim-majority district in the state. Hindu right-wing groups in Haryana followed up the violence with calls to boycott Muslim businesses and for Hindu-owned businesses to fire Muslim employees. Before the demolition drive, clashes broke out between Hindu and Muslim groups in Nuh when a procession led by the far-right Hindu organisation Vishwa Hindu Parishad reached the district. What we are witnessing is undoubtedly a consequence of the hateful rhetoric encouraged under the current Hindu nationalist regime. Read More

When the Torturer is the ‘Savior’: Can BRICS, Global South Help Us Escape the West’s Hegemony, Contradictions?
By Dr. Ramzy Baroud: Neither BRICS alone, nor any other economic or political body will save us from our own contradictions. The new political formations in the Global South, however, should serve as a starting point for confronting our dichotomy, at least through the realization that a whole world, rife with potential, possible allies and new ideas, extends beyond the confines of Washington and Brussels. In the Global South, we must explore these new margins and possibilities, and move forward toward real, substantive and sustainable change. Imploring the West to help us cannot be our strategy, because history has taught us, time and again, that our torturers cannot also be our saviors. Read More
