Haifa-Carmel under Hezbollah keen eye: Hoopoe Episode 3

Hezbollah releases new footage of swathes of Israeli locations in the strategic Haifa-Carmel area in occupied Palestine filmed by its Hoopoe drones.

The Islamic Resistance in Lebanon - Hezbollah published Wednesday evening a new episode of its Hoopoe series, revealing new footage its drone filmed of potential Israeli targets in occupied Palestinian territories before safely returning to Lebanese soil, undetected by Israeli air defenses.

The latest episode showed swathes of locations in the Haifa-Carmel area, a strategic high point that serves as the first line of defense for the Gush Dan area concerning air defense.

According to the Islamic Resistance, the area houses several military facilities positioned within a surrounding civilian environment and includes industrial, tourism, and scientific facilities of significant importance.

Episode 3 of the Hoopoe series showed the following:

- The Kiryat Nahum industrial area

- Haifa oil refinery

- The Kiryat Ata industrial zone

- Neshercement factories.

- Mishmar Air Base, which serves as a major communications node between the Northern Command and the Ministry of Security in Tel Aviv

- MishmarHaCarmel Air Base, which serves as an air defense base responsible for protecting Haifa and its surroundings

- Iron Dome radars

- Iron Dome platforms

- Command rooms and troop positionings

- The Yitzhak Rabin complex

- The University of Haifa

- The Eshkol Tower

- A military communications node on the roof of the University of Haifa building. - An upper cable car station

- The Grand Canyon mall

- The central tunnel junction in Mount Carmel, used as fortified hospitals during wartime

- Bnei Zion Hospital

- Ze'ev Air Base, a reserve air defense base housing David's Sling batteries.

- A military communications connection node

- Tchernichovsky Street

- KiryatEliezer Air Base, the main air defense base responsible for protecting Haifa and its surrounding area

- Command rooms at BMC

- Stella Maris Base, a strategic base for maritime monitoring and surveillance along the northern coast, which possesses a multi-layered radar system.

At the end of the video, Hezbollah displayed a message in Hebrew, translating to, "In the crosshairs."

It is noteworthy that Hezbollah's rockets have already reached some of the locations in the Haifa-Carmel area. Just on Tuesday, the Islamic Resistance released scenes from its fighters targeting the Carmel and 7200 bases south of the occupied city of Haifa with rocket salvos and one-way drones.

The new revelation comes at a sensitive time, especially amid an ongoing Israeli aggression across Lebanon, especially the country's southern and eastern regions, as well as Beirut's Southern Suburb, which has so far killed 2,141 people and injured 10,099 others, according to the latest statistics from the Lebanese Ministry of Health.

Meanwhile, Hezbollah's fighters continue to inflict heavy casualties on Israeli troops attempting to infiltrate Lebanese towns from occupied Palestinian territories since "Israel" announced a ground incursion over a week ago, despite Israeli officials claiming that the group's capabilities have been reduced during this round of confrontation.

Hezbollah still organized despite Israeli attacks, says Russia

Zakharova accuses the West, particularly the United States and Britain, of escalating the Middle East struggle and demonstrating hypocrisy by supporting "Israel".

Hezbollah, the Lebanese Resistance group, is still organized and has not lost its chain of command, despite all the Israeli attacks, Russia's Foreign Ministry stated on Wednesday, knowing that these attacks, according to Moscow, are aimed at stoking an armed struggle throughout the Middle East.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova told reporters that according to Russian assessments, "Hezbollah, including the military wing, has not lost its chain of command and is demonstrating organization."

Zakharova accused the West, particularly the United States and Britain, of escalating the Middle East war and demonstrating hypocrisy by supporting "Israel", which has killed hundreds of civilians in Lebanon.

Russia also chastised "Israel" for its assault on a residential building in the Mazzeh neighborhood of Damascus on Tuesday claimed the lives of nine civilians, including women and children, and injured fourteen others according to the Syrian Defense Ministry.

The latest aggression comes a week after Israeli airstrikes, which also targeted the Mazzeh neighborhood, killed three people, including Syrian journalist Safaa Ahmad, and injured nine others.

Zakharova expressed that "once again, Israel has grossly violated the sovereignty of Syria by launching a missile attack on a multi-storey apartment building in a densely populated area of Damascus," describing this "routine practice" in Gaza, Lebanon, and Syria by the Israeli occupation as "outrageous".

She added that it demonstrated "Israel's desire to further expand the geography of armed escalation in the region."

Hezbollah continues repelling Israeli attempts to enter Lebanese towns

The Islamic Resistance in Lebanon - Hezbollah announced a variety of operations throughout Tuesday, including overnight defensive operations, confrontations with Israeli occupation forces near the Lebanese-Palestnian border, and long-range rocket attacks.

Israeli occupation forces have been attempting to infiltrate Lebanese border towns and territory since last Monday, paired with a vicious campaign of airstrikes and raids. However, Hezbollah fighters have maintained their positions and thwarted 22 Israeli incursions since battles started.

Hezbollah issued a strong statement through its Operations Room in response to continued Israeli aggression on Lebanon and Gaza, pledging that the struggle against the Israeli occupation would continue until the cessation of war on Gaza.

The statement reaffirmed the group’s preparedness and the enhanced capability of its missile forces, warning the Israeli occupation that any further attacks on Lebanon would be met with intensified retaliation, reiterating remarks by Hezbollah's Deputy Secretary-General Sheikh NaimQassem.

Sheikh Qassem had earlier on Tuesday emphasized Hezbollah's readiness to strike anywhere in occupied Palestine.

According to the statement, Hezbollah's capabilities would be directed by the Resistance's leadership through a command-and-control system that has developed to become "stronger and more resilient" than before.

In the unfolding "epic battles", Hezbollah underlined that Israeli forces have suffered significant casualties, with more than 35 soldiers killed and 200 wounded from the Israeli occupation forces' elite units.

Israeli soldiers, the statement stressed, are hiding behind UNIFIL positions and attempting to move through unseen paths but have so far failed to enter the villages protected by Hezbollah.

The Islamic Resistance in Lebanon repeated a warning it issued at the onset of the war, declaring that what the enemy had experienced so far is only "a fraction of the severe might that awaits them" in South Lebanon.

Israel killed 2,141, injured 10,099 in Lebanon; paramedics targeted

The Lebanese Ministry of Health announced that the toll of martyrs from the Israeli aggression on Lebanon has reached 2,141, with 10,099 injured, since October 8, 2023.

A statement from the Public Health Emergency Operations Center, affiliated with the Lebanese Ministry of Health, detailed the casualties from Tuesday’s Israeli occupation aggressions across various Lebanese regions.

The report outlined the number of deaths and injuries as follows:

  • South Lebanon: 12 people martyred, 37 injured
  • Bekaa region: 7 people martyred, 3 injured
  • Baalbek-Hermel region: 1 martyred, 2 injured
  • Mount Lebanon: 4 injured
  • The Emergency Operations Center further noted that a total of 22 people have been killed by Israeli airstrikes while 80 others have been injured, in yesterday's toll.

As the night sets in, Israeli occupation forces continue their attacks on Lebanon, focusing on the Southern Suburb of Beirut, the South, Bekaa, and Baalbek-Hermel regions.

In its latest attacks, the Israeli occupation airforce, according to Al Mayadeen's correspondent, targeted the town of Shebaa, causing the closure of the Shebaa-Janam-Rashaya-Ayn Ata road. Another airstrike struck the town of Habboush in South Lebanon.

Earlier today, the correspondent also reported that 6 people were killed and 25 were injured when an Israeli occupation airstrike hit a shelter managed by the Ministry of Social Affairs in the town of al-Wardaniya, located in the Iqlim Al-Kharroub area of Chouf in Mount Lebanon.

'Israel' has a bullseye set on medics, civil defense

The Union of Municipalities of BintJbeil in South Lebanon announced that the bodies of several firefighters from its rescue center in the town of Baraachit remain trapped under the rubble after an Israeli occupation airstrike hit the center last Sunday night.

The center urged immediate intervention to recover the bodies of the remaining crew members, who were martyred as a result of the Israeli strike, with the estimated number of missing medics being 20 rescuers, out of which only 8 bodies have been retrieved so far.

The union also appealed to the international community and humanitarian organizations to intervene and "halt the continued targeting of humanitarian workers by the Israeli occupation."

In addition to the firefighters at Baraachit, several other rescuers remain trapped under rubble at other locations targeted by Israeli airstrikes. Efforts to recover them have been hindered by ongoing bombardments and the targeting of those attempting to reach the sites.

Two weeks ago, Israeli forces targeted the Islamic Health Association teams in the southern border towns of Taybeh and Odaisseh, subsequently targeting other teams that attempted to assist them. The bodies of the martyred rescuers remain trapped in their vehicles and bases in these towns.

The Israeli occupation continues to target civil defense and ambulance centers and the Islamic Health Association across different regions while on duty, including in the capital, Beirut.

These attacks are not new to the current aggression. Since October 8, 2023, the Israeli occupation forces have deliberately targeted civil defense and ambulance centers, as well as personnel and equipment.

In a related development, the Lebanese Civil Defense received an Israeli threat on Thursday, October 3, 2024, warning them against approaching targeted areas, particularly the Southern Suburb of Beirut, which experienced the heaviest airstrikes since the escalation of attacks on September 23, 2024. The threat included warnings of targeting anyone who attempted to approach the bombed sites in the suburbs to aid victims.

This warning followed earlier calls on September 26, 2024, urging civil defense personnel across Lebanon to evacuate their posts, aiming to spread panic and disrupt relief efforts.

Gaza toll crosses 42,000 after Israeli strikes in N. Gaza kill dozens

The Palestinian death toll in Israel's genocidal Gaza war crossed 42,000 on Wednesday when a large-scale Israeli operation in northern Gaza killed dozens of people, officials confirmed.

It also threatened to shut down three hospitals over a year into the war, residents said.

Heavy fighting is underway in Jabalia, where Israeli forces have carried out several major operations throughout the war and then returned as resistance members regroup. The entire north, including Gaza City, has suffered heavy destruction and has been largely isolated by Israeli forces since late last year.

The continuing cycle of destruction and death in Gaza, unleashed by Hamas' Oct. 7, 2023 incursion of southern Israel, comes as Israel expands a weeklong ground offensive against Hezbollah in Lebanon and considers a major retaliatory strike on Iran.

A rocket fired from Lebanon killed two people in the northern Israeli town of KiryatShmona and another six people were wounded in a series of stabbings in the city of Hadera on Wednesday, which Israeli police described as a militant attack. The police said the attacker was "neutralized," indicating he was killed.

Residents of Jabalia, a refugee camp dating back to the 1948 war surrounding Israel's creation, said thousands of people have been trapped in their homes since the operation began Sunday, as Israeli jets and drones buzz overhead and troops battled in the streets.

"It’s like hell. We can’t get out," said Mohamed Awda, who lives with his parents and six siblings. He said three bodies in the street outside his home could not be retrieved because of the fighting.

"The quadcopters are everywhere and they fire at anyone. You can’t even open the window," he told The Associated Press by phone, speaking over the sound of explosions.

Gaza's Health Ministry said it recovered 40 bodies from Jabalia from Sunday until Tuesday and another 14 from communities farther north. There are likely more bodies under rubble and in areas that can't be accessed, it said.

An airstrike in Jabalia early Wednesday killed at least nine people, including two women and two children, according to Al-Ahli Hospital, which received the bodies. Strikes in central Gaza killed another nine people, including three children, according to Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir al-Balah.

Residents of Jabalia fear Israel aims to depopulate the north and turn it into a closed military zone or a Jewish settlement. Israel has blocked all roads except for the main highway leading from Jabalia to the south, according to residents.

The U.N. agency for Palestinian refugees said it was evacuating seven schools that were being used as shelters and that only two of eight water wells in the camp are still functioning.

"We are concerned about the displacement to the south," Ahmed Qamar, who lives in Jabalia with his wife, children and parents, said in a text message. "People here say clearly that they will die here in northern Gaza and won’t go to southern Gaza."

FadelNaeem, the director of Al-Ahli Hospital in Gaza City, said it had received dozens of wounded people and bodies from the north. "We declared a state of emergency, suspended scheduled surgeries, and discharged patients whose conditions are stable," told AP in a text message.

Israel’s offensive has gutted Gaza’s health sector, forcing most of its hospitals to shut down and leaving the rest only partially functioning.

Naeem said three hospitals farther north – Kamal Adwan, Awda and the Indonesian Hospital – have become almost inaccessible because of the attacks. The Gaza Health Ministry says the Israeli army has ordered all three to evacuate staff and patients. Meanwhile, no humanitarian aid has entered the north since Oct. 1, according to U.N. data.

The Israeli military did not immediately respond to requests for comment on the hospitals or the apparent suspension of aid delivery in the north.

Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari, the military spokesperson, said late Tuesday that Israeli forces were operating in Jabalia to "prevent Hamas' regrouping efforts" and had killed around 100 resistance members, without providing evidence.

Israel ordered the wholesale evacuation of northern Gaza, including Gaza City, in the opening weeks of the war, but hundreds of thousands of people are believed to have remained there. Israel reiterated those instructions over the weekend, telling people to flee south to an expanded humanitarian zone where hundreds of thousands are already crammed into squalid tent camps.

The war began just over a year ago, when Hamas members stormed into southern Israel, causing around 1,200 deaths and abducting around 250. They are still holding around 100 hostages, a third of whom are believed to be dead.

Besides 42,000 dead Palestinians, Israel's offensive has caused staggering destruction across the territory and displaced around 90% of the population of 2.3 million people, often multiple times.

Scholar laments division in Muslim world over Palestine

by Anadolu Agency

DOHA, Qatar Oct 09, 2024 - The Muslim world has split into three groups over the Palestinian cause, according to Ali Mohiuddin al-Qaradaghi, the head of the International Union for Muslim Scholars (IUMS).

Speaking to Anadolu Agency (AA) at the union's headquarters in Doha, Qatar, on Wednesday, al-Qaradaghi lamented that the Islamic world had failed to act collectively on the matter of Palestine.

"Unfortunately, the Islamic world has split into three groups during this process. The first group has fallen silent as if these massacres and attacks had never occurred," al-Qaradaghi said.

"The second group, far from remaining silent, has provided support to Israel in various areas, including commercial and political aid," he noted.

"The third group consists of a small number of countries like Türkiye, Qatar, Malaysia, Algeria and Kuwait, which have stood with the Palestinians against Israel," he explained.

"However, this has not been enough to stop Israel. The genocides, deaths and destruction continue," he said.

Marking one year of Israel's genocide in the Gaza Strip, al-Qaradaghi highlighted that Gaza continues to suffer, with at least 50 to 100 casualties daily.

"The Zionists are occupying our lands and homes. This year, horrific massacres took place in the truest sense of the word," according to al-Qaradaghi.

"Mosques, hospitals, schools and universities have been destroyed. The infrastructure has been completely wiped out. Neither history nor humanity has witnessed such devastation and genocide before," he said.

"Sadly, these events failed to unite the Muslims. Over 50 Islamic countries have been unable to act," he said, adding they could neither stop Israel nor wipe the tears of the oppressed.

Türkiye's historical responsibility

Al-Qaradaghi also stressed Türkiye's historical and moral responsibility toward Palestine and underscored that the country has done all it can to halt Israel's aggression.

"However, the lack of unity among Muslims regarding Palestine has left Türkiye isolated in this cause," he said.

"As the union, we commend Türkiye's stance, and we extend our gratitude to the Turkish government, President RecepTayyipErdoğan and the Turkish people for their moral and historic position," al-Qaradaghi said.

"Türkiye's stance is a continuation of Sultan Abdulhamid's firm policy of refusing to cede even an inch of Palestinian land," he said.

Al-Qaradaghi called on all Muslims in the name of Gaza, urging all Muslim leaders to make every effort to stop this "oppression."

Israel has continued its brutal offensive on the Gaza Strip since an attack by the Palestinian group Hamas last year, despite a U.N. Security Council resolution calling for an immediate cease-fire.

More than 42,000 people have since been killed, mostly women and children, and over 97,300 others injured in the onslaught, according to local health authorities.
